Employment Eligibility Check Request
Employment Eligibility Check Request form DR 7601 needs to be submitted by either the Firearms Dealer business or an Employee or Responsible Person associated with that business, for:
- New Employees or Responsible Persons; or
- Existing Employees or Responsible Persons
“Employee” means: a person who, in the course of the person’s duties, handles firearms, processes the sale, loan, or transfer of firearms, or otherwise has access to firearms.
“Responsible Person” means any individual possessing, directly or indirectly, the power to direct or cause the direction of the management, policies, and practices of the business, Corporation, Partnership, or Association insofar as they pertain to firearms.
Responsible Person: Complete the required training within thirty (30) days after the date a State Permit is issued to the Dealer and annually thereafter.
Employee: Complete the required training within thirty (30) days after the Employee’s first day of work for the Dealer and annually thereafter. Except employees who a Firearms Dealer employs on July 1, 2025, shall complete the Employee’s first training course no later than July 31, 2025, as required by 18-12-406(1)(c)(I), C.R.S., and a copy of the training completion certificate must be provided to your employer.
- Training must be completed with a passing score of 70% or more.
- Provide your employer with a copy of the most recent training completion certificate for their records.

Fingerprints must be taken and submitted to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation through a local law enforcement agency or a third-party vendor approved by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. FDD’s fingerprinting code will be provided at a future date, when available. The currently approved Vendors are as follows:
