Training and Testing

Training and Testing

Responsible Person: Complete the required training within thirty (30) days after the date a State Permit is issued to the Dealer and annually thereafter. 

Employee: Complete the required training within thirty (30) days after the Employee’s first day of work for the Dealer and annually thereafter. Except employees who a Firearms Dealer employs on July 1, 2025, shall complete the Employee’s first training course no later than July 31, 2025, as required by 18-12-406(1)(c)(I), C.R.S., and a copy of the training completion certificate must be provided to your employer.

  • Training must be completed with a passing score of 70% or more.
  • Provide your employer with a copy of the most recent training completion certificate for their records.

Firearms Dealer Permit Holder: Provide training confirmation for each Responsible Person and employee associated with your business. Training confirmation can be emailed to dor_fddlicensing@state.co.us or submitted through the Division's online service portal. More information about this online process can be found under section "Submit Report of Changes or Training Confirmation, Remove Employee(s) or Responsible Person(s)" on the Online Application Resources webpage.

Note that a copy of the certificate of completion of the training must be kept for your records for each Responsible Person and employee associated with your business. 

Important Information:

The training courses do not save a copy of your test scores or certificates.

You are responsible for printing or saving a copy of your certificate of completion and providing it to your employer.
