New Director Appointed for Division of Racing Events

LAKEWOOD - December 12, 2025 – The  Department of Revenue is pleased to announce that Christopher Schroder will be appointed as the Director of Racing Events, effective January 1, 2026. 

Schroder, who is also the director of the Colorado Division of Gaming, will oversee these two distinct Department of Revenue divisions. The Division of Racing Events will continue to operate as a standalone division within the Department of Revenue. Leveraging the talents of an existing director is a successful strategy already used within the Department of Revenue. In 2024, Director Michelle Stone-Principato assumed the role of the newly created Firearms Division in addition to her role as Director of the Liquor and Tobacco Enforcement Divisions, and Director Dominique Mendiola acts as director of both the Marijuana Enforcement Division and the Division of Natural Medicine. 

Schroder brings more than 25 years of experience to the Division of Racing Events, including holding the following certifications:

  • Certified Cyber Intelligence Investigator (CCII)
  • Certified Organized Retail Crime Investigator (CORCI)
  • Certified Professional Criminal Investigator (CPCI)
  • Certified Human Trafficking Investigator (CHTI)

Schroder's career in the gaming industry spans over two decades, beginning in 1999 at the Dubuque Greyhound Park and Casino He subsequently held multiple managerial and director-level surveillance and security roles, including as the security and surveillance manager at Mahoning Valley Race Course. Most recently, he served as the director for the Bureau of Casino Compliance for the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, focusing on monitoring industry compliance and ensuring the integrity of gaming regulations.

Schroder has served on multiple law enforcement collaboration boards, such as Crime Stoppers, in Las Vegas, Nevada, as well as serving as the Vice President of Clear Creek and Gilpin Counties Crime Stoppers.

Schroder has an Associate’s Degree of Applied Science in Casino Management, and a Bachelor’s Degree of Applied Science in Project Management, both from the College of Southern Nevada, and earned his Master of Science in Hospitality Management from the University of Alabama.
