Colorado Sports Betting Sees Strong September with Close to 10% Increase in Fiscal Year-to-Date Tax Revenue

Denver – October 30, 2025 – The Colorado Division of Gaming’s monthly sports betting report showed strong performance in September, with an increase in fiscal year-to-date tax revenue of close to 10%.

Coloradans wagered over $608.7 million on sports in September 2025, a 45.91% increase from August 2025. It's also 8.14% more than what was wagered in September 2024.

The total taxes collected for the fiscal year to date are more than $9.6 million, which is 9.8% higher than the same period last year. Full figures are available online or in the tables at the end of this news release.

"Colorado continues to demonstrate a strong and responsible sports betting market," said Director of Gaming Christopher Schroder. "These figures reflect not only the public’s interest but also our ongoing commitment to using this revenue to benefit the state’s critical water initiatives. As we see these results, we also remind everyone to play responsibly. If you or someone you know needs help, please call or text 1-800-GAMBLER or visit BetSmart.Colorado.gov."

Sports betting funds water projects across Colorado

Tax revenue from sports betting goes to help Colorado’s water. For example, some funds go to the Colorado Water Conservation Board for projects like the Bear Creek Wildfire Ready Action Plan. This plan helps protect water and communities from dangers after wildfires. It will map hazards, work with local groups, and teach people how to be ready before and after wildfires.
