- A Dealer shall immediately notify the board of a change of location.
- The Motor Vehicle Board requires an application and fee for any location change to be submitted prior to actual date of the location change.
How to Apply
Change of Location
- Zoning Requirement: You must ensure that that the new location of your dealership complies with all local zoning requirements.
- Complete and submit: Application for Change of Location (DR 2003).
- This form must be signed by an: Owner, Partner, LLC Member/Manager, or Corporate Officer (president, vice president, secretary or treasurer).
- The title of the person signing the form must be provided and form must be dated.
- Bond Rider - New/Used Dealer attach a copy of the Bond Rider.
- Wholesalers: All wholesalers must have a place of business or business address which place or address must contain an office wherein the wholesaler shall keep business books and other records.
- Pay Fee(s) - Check should be made payable to the Department of Revenue. All fees are subject to change July 1st of every year. See button labeled $ Fees
- Incomplete Applications - Failure to complete all sections of the application may result in a rejection or delay in processing.
- You may not operate at the new location until you receive your Change of location license from the Auto Industry Division.
- Additional Requirements
- All documents submitted must be on 8.5” x 11” size paper.
- Do not submit legal size copies.
- Do not submit double sided copies.
- Do not staple documents.

The Auto Industry is now accepting applications online.
To apply online, you must first obtain a registration code. Registration codes can be obtained by any of the following methods:
- During your renewal period, your renewal and a letter announcing the new online process will be mailed to you. The registration code is printed on the renewal. Safeguard this number and keep it for future reference.
- You may request a Registration Code by emailing: dor_aidlicensing@state.co.us.
- In the subject line please enter: Registration Code
- Call the Auto Industry Division: (303)205-5604.
If your license is listed as "Inactive" or your renewal is in "30-day grace period," you must first renew your license before you can take any other actions on it.

Approved Applications

If approved, the Change of Location license will be mailed to the primary place of business for verification of the information on the license.

The Dealer should review the license and if correct, as required by law the Dealer should forward it to the additional location for conspicuous posting.
