Notice From Denver Department of Public Health and Environment

January 16, 2026

Hello,

Below is a notice from the Denver Department of Public Health and Environment regarding PolkaDot branded products. If you have any questions about this notice, please contact the Denver Department of Public Health and Environment at DDPHEinformation@Denvergov.org

The Denver Department of Public Health & Environment (DDPHE) and Denver Licensing and Consumer Protection (DLCP) received laboratory test results for PolkaDot branded chocolate bars that were removed earlier this month from three Denver retailers. The products were selected for testing by DDPHE and DLCP and submitted to a local laboratory certified to test for specific psychoactive substances. The test results confirmed that the products contained ingredients not allowed in food that elicit a psychoactive response, including psilocybin, psilocin, adenosine, tryptamine, and 4-HO-MET.

Today, an interagency team consisting of DLCP, DDPHE, and Denver Police Department conducted site visits at six locations to inventory the products and place them on hold. DDPHE in coordination with DLCP will oversee the destruction of these products, evaluate if any additional enforcement actions are warranted for the involved retailers, and coordinate on potential public-facing messaging. DDPHE has been in communication with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) regarding these products and next steps

PolkaDot brand labeling and branding materials are available online for anyone to purchase and use, so it is suspected that many disconnected “manufacturers” are producing under PolkaDot branding. Most PolkaDot products are infused chocolate bars and gummies, but other product include liquid shots and seltzers. Products can be purchased through online retailers and in smoke shops, convenience stores, and gas stations throughout Colorado and other states. California’s Department of Public Health issued a consumer warning regarding PolkaDot brand chocolate bars following similar investigatory procedures in November 2024.
