LED Bulletin 16-08

Dear Liquor Stakeholders,

The Liquor Enforcement Division (LED) is issuing Bulletin 16-08, which concerns the use of alcohol for special event permits and non-profit entities. A similar Bulletin (15-02) was issued in 2015 but due to rule changes effective on January 1, 2017, the LED is removing Bulletin 15-02 and issuing Bulletin 16-08.

The change in rule concerns the use of donated alcohol for entities who obtain a special event permit. Previously the Division did not allow donated alcohol to a special event permit holder to be resold by the drink. During this year's rule making working group, the LED along with the working group members decided to change the rule to allow entities who have a special event permit to sell donated alcohol by the drink.

This change does not affect Regulation 47-322(A)5)(c), which prohibits donated alcohol to be resold by the drink for a non-profit entity holding an event on a liquor license establishment for on-premises consumption.
