REFERENCE: Annual Inflation Adjustment to Retailer Purchase Limit

This bulletin serves to inform the Colorado liquor industry of the annual cost of inflation adjustment to the specified on-premises licensed retailers' alcohol purchase limit from off-premises licensed retailers, as performed by the State Licensing Authority. This information is posted on our website.

Effective January 1, 2026, the maximum annual purchase limit has been raised from the 2025 amount of $7,000 to $7,154 per calendar year.   

The following license types are permitted to purchase up to $7,154 annually:

• Beer and Wine Licensees
• Hotel and Restaurant Licensees
• Tavern Licensees
• Retail Gaming Tavern Licensees
• Brew Pub Licensees
• Club Licensees
• Arts Licensees
• Racetrack Licensees
• Vinter’s Restaurant Licensees
• Distillery Pub Licensees
• Entertainment Facility Licensees
• Lodging Facility Licensees.

Authorized purchase sources that the above-listed licensees may use for this annual purchase limit are:

• Retail liquor stores
• Liquor-licensed drug stores
• Fermented malt beverage and wine retailers (off)
• Fermented malt beverage and wine retailers (on/off). [Note only for off-premises; FMB&W On licensees do not have this licensed privilege to sell.]



Please note that liquor purchases from retailers may not exceed $7,154 for the calendar year. To account for inflation, relevant statutes require the State Licensing Authority to adjust this limit annually and post the adjusted amount on the Liquor Enforcement Division’s website.

The Division reserves the right to amend or withdraw industry bulletins at any time, but will try to give as much notice as possible before any such amendment or withdrawal.
